New Mexico’s bill was supposed to be a slam dunk. But after New York, nothing on abortion is a sure thing — not anymore. In a country that saw a 17-point jump in the number of pro-lifers since January, it’s no wonder that state Democrats are taking a good hard look at their positions, especially on late-term abortion. Americans have changed — and it looks like smart politicians are changing with them.
No one was more surprised by Thursday night’s vote than Governor (and abortion extremist) Michelle Lujan Grisham (D). After the House had sent the bill on with a 40-29 vote, the Democrats’ stranglehold on the Senate was supposed to mean that the New York-style H.B. 51 was a done deal. But despite the party’s 26-16 edge, the vote fell far from party lines. In a stunning victory for pro-lifers, eight Democrats crossed over — killing a bill that would have legalized infanticide and given abortionists the right to destroy babies up to the moment of birth.
Governor Grisham, who hadn’t counted on the intense lobbying from pastors and state conservatives, was astounded. “That… it was even a debate, much less a difficult vote for some senators, is inexplicable to me,” she told reporters. By a 24-18 tally, Democratic Senators Pete Campos, Carlos Cisneros, Richard Martinez, George Muñoz, Senate President Pro Tem Mary Kay Papen, Ramos, Clemente “Meme” Sanchez, and John Arthur Smith proved what a complicated issue abortion is becoming — even in liberal states.
During an emotional debate, some Democrats struggled to come up with a reason why New Mexico should leave perfectly healthy babies on a hospital table to die. Senator Ramos of Silver City told his chamber, “This is one of the toughest decisions any of us will ever have to make.” But, he went on, “I stand unified against legislation that weakens the defense of life and threatens the dignity of the human being.” While others sometimes spoke through tears, the tension inside the Democratic caucus was obvious.
In one strained exchange, two Democrats squared off against each other. Senator Jerry Ortiz y Pino of Albuquerque quoted St. Antoninus to justify why Catholics should feel free to vote for the bill. “The importance of individual choice is what the church has always taught,” he said. Senator Ramos demanded to know which Catholic Church he was talking about. “Mine does not approve of abortion,” Ramos said. Then, to his colleagues he said simply, “Vote your conscience.”
Thank goodness many did. Their courage dealt one of the most significant blows of the year to the extreme abortion camp. When she was asked, one dazed senator could only say, “We did expect more to be voting in favor — and it didn’t turn out that way.” Deep blue states like Maryland and Virginia share her surprise. There, similar proposals have been shelved because of the intense divides on late-term abortion. Even in Illinois, whose governor is vying to be the “pro-abortion state in the union,” a New York-style measure stalled after four cosponsors asked to be removed from the bill. thank you god that we know god is on our side too many people fight over what they call ‘THEIR RIGHTS’ this is not a right to kill babies and leave them to die too many have let satan harden their minds and hearts people have been washed up into the things that are shown on tv and other media sources were brute force and bullys seem to take pride in the me first without thought or compassion of others to many taking their own lifes and to many reaching to drugs to deal with pain instead of kneeling in pray we have as a nation lost touch with the truth of what god wants to do in are nation and to bless and heal us all we need to all wake up and to see what the enemy will do when we let ungodly men and women deceive us we can make a difference because god is on our side let us no longer say that nothing can be done we must take up our voices to the almighty god and not give up there are so many loving souls who feel the pain of what is going on we must speak up and remain watchful so satan can not get any doors open

Thank you Lord for moving against infanticide in this state. I was a democrat Over 2 years ago, back then I was always pro-life. I am glad to know that these democrats in my state voted against this notorious bill to murder babies at birth. Our team at the Church prayed that many would reject this murdering of babies bill. Thank you Father for hearing our cry for the innocent and Lord please open our governor’s eyes to see the truth behind the legislation and the evil that is trying to destroy New Mexico and this nation.
Lord, we thank you for the victory that we see taking place in the hearts of many in this area. We agree together according to your word that if we, your people who are called by your name will humble themselves & pray & seek your face & turn from our wicked way, then you will hear from heaven, forgive their sin & heal their land. We pray that more believers will rise up & come into agreement with this prayer as they pray over those whose eyes are blind to the truth. We pray that you will open their eyes to Your Truth & reveal the right way to walk. We pray that they will be convicted & turn from their wicked / wayward thoughts to you & your truth in the name of Jesus!

In Your great mercy toward these people who unexpectedly voted for life, please water and fertilize the seeds sewn into their hearts through this recent voting process. That each man and woman would flourish into tall righteous oaks for ALL to see, as they stand for preborn and born children saved from death. While their mothers, as I was, are spared from deep, sometimes unbearable, post-abortion shame and pain.
Victory, Lord!! We declare your victory over all human hearts and lives for Your glory!!

It was supposed to be a slam dunk for Hillary to become President of these United States. The population of our country started opening their eyes and saw her for what she is. Praise God that he is still opening eyes.
Thank You, Lord, for saving the lives of the children who were victims of abortion, but survived, albeit with permanent damage in some cases, which testifies to the brutality of abortion. I pray that You continue to give them the strength to testify that a baby’s life is given by God and is meant to serve His purpose. They are the survivors of abortion, whom Satan intended to silence forever, but instead are now testifying against him. I praise You for how You lift up those You are using in mighty ways. It may take years for us to see and understand, but You are always on the move, laying the groundwork for miracles. Help us to see Your hand in all about us and to lead others to You. I pray in the Name of Jesus, Who said, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 19:14). I pray that You give our nation the love of Jesus for children and I thank You for the ironic words of the governor, that it is inexplicable that there should be a debate. Thank You for the Holy Spirit, Who had the power to influence the minds of those voting. Dear ABBA FATHER, we shout HALLELUJAH! Your Word states that child sacrifice is a sin, and yet our culture celebrates it! Thank you Lord for giving these strong men & women the courage to vote against culture & vote Your Word! We lift Ramos especially up in prayer, as he acknowledged the Church does NOT consider abortion as acceptable!
