I Prayed have prayed
Thank you Lord for loving and accepting all of us sinners into Your kingdom through acceptance in Your son Jesus.

This weekend, I, along with the rest of America, took some time to listen to Kanye West’s latest album release, Jesus is King.

I have never been a Kanye fan before. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve had plenty of jam sessions to some of his greatest hits like StrongerHeartless, and Gold Digger, which could be considered to be some of the pillars of 2000’s music. But I have never listened to one of his albums all the way through. When he announced his conversion to Christianity would be followed by a worship album I was extremely intrigued.

I had many thoughts while listening to Jesus is King. Musically it is incredible. It’s Kirk Franklin meets Lecrae and everything one could hope for from a Gospel album. What surprised me was how each song revealed the truth of the Gospel. As each song played, I was encouraged and convicted and even reminded of my calling as a believer.

However, there was one song that genuinely upset me; track nine on the album, a song titled Hands On .

Here are the words that disturbed me:

//Said I’m finna do a gospel album
What have you been hearin’ from the Christians?
They’ll be the first one to judge me
Make it feel like nobody love me

Told people God was my mission
What have you been hearin’ from the Christians?
They’ll be the first one to judge me
Make it feel like nobody love me//

These lyrics unfortunately proved to be true. This past weekend I’ve seen countless tweets, Facebook and YouTube comments, magazine and newspaper articles, and blogs that have something to say about Kanye West and his newfound faith. Most of these words are either criticizing or doubting West’s intentions and many of those come from within the Church.

Kanye’s faith is not the first that the church has questioned.

Look at this response to Saul’s conversion:

“Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints. And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.” But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.””

Acts 9:14-16

Saul, who was later renamed Paul, is widely recognized as one of the world’s greatest missionaries to ever live. The man who once murdered Christians was used by the Lord to share the hope of salvation, and is still being used by the Lord today through his Spirit-inspired writings in Scripture.

Brothers and sisters, it is never our responsibility to judge the soul of another, regardless of an individual’s past. The Lord “has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.” (Psalm 103:12) If God is willing to send His son to die to atone for and forgive the past, present, and future sins, of ALL people, we should be more than willing to do the same. In fact, we should be excited when God’s child repents and returns home.

I hear Mr. West’s story and I am encouraged. Kanye’s story is just one of many. Everyday God is saving countless sinners, just like Kanye, just like you, and just like me.

I encourage you to listen to Hands On , and reflect on how we as a church view Gospel transformation. Join me in praying for our new brother Mr. West, and our many other brothers and sisters as the Lord begins to work in their lives and work mightily through them.

I am so encouraged by this radical transformation through Jesus Christ. I pray and believe that a mighty revival is going to be launched through him. Protect him Lord increase his wisdom help him to remain humble as you take him through the maturing process. Let your word, your presence be his counsel and guide. Help him in being able to discern good and evil. Let him grow strong in Grace and Mercy to those who would judge and criticise. Raise him and his family up to be mighty witnesses for you. Help them to know you will take them through the fire and flood and they will be faithful carriers of the glory. Amen in Jesus Holy precious name

A few months ago, Dutch Sheets was in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He prophesied that we are on the cusp of a great awakening. However, “Christians” aren’t going to like the way these new Believers worship. He warned us not to judge them but to love and teach them and allow God to transform them. Do not approach these believers with a religious spirit.

Kanye held his Sunday Service in Baton Rouge this past weekend, we saw 1,000 people accept Christ. I recommend that we pray for Kanye and welcome him and may God use him mightily!

In the 1990’s a mega church Pastor stated that ours is an “ancient-future” faith. The ancient truths still stand but God speaks to each generation according to their culture/vocabulary. If we review revival history, think of the old Frank Sinatra song “I Did it My Way”. GOD DOES IT HIS WAY. He does not respond to our expectations or preset formula’s. He is not limited by our religious expectation. He did not come to save the righteous but those who know their need. Remember the awesome stories of soldiers who cried out in their hour of need and He answered their cry.
He is not a God that is limited by man except, unbelief, such as in Jesus own town where the people looked at His humanity rather than seeing God moving among them.
I think this is a case of letting God be God and we, the Church, need to adjust our thinking to Him. Too often we miss Him because we see Him doing it HIS way which does not look familiar or traditional.
Praise Him for shaking us awake!!!!

Lord Jesus, we thank you for this new brother in Christ & the courage that you gave him to publicly state his faith!
We ask you to place a hedge of protection around him & his family and bless him in every way (emotionally, mentally, physically, socially & financially) so that he will continue to be a beacon of light shining for you.
Help us, as Christians, to remember to pray for and encourage this brother as he continues his walk with you.
In Jesus precious & holy name,
Amen & Amen!

This is for you, Kanye…Eph. 6:13-18 ‘Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins gird about with truth & having on the breastplate of righteousness. And your feet shod with the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer & supplication in the Spirit, & watching thereunto with all perseverance & supplication for all saints’.

Praise God for each and every soul who receives Jesus Christ! That Kanye is using his platform of fame to share the gospel is wonderful! I pray for him to grow deep in his walk with the Lord and be pure in heart. May the Lord protect him from being exploited, which is a risk when any famous person comes to Christ. I, for one, am going to be praying for his walk with the Lord and for all those who are making decisions for Christ because of his witness on his album, the worship services, and other means. Grow them deep and strong. May the seed of the gospel fall upon rich soil in their hearts and may they hunger like newborn babes for the Word of God. May revival spring forth in a whole new people group as it did in the ’70s. I was one who got saved then and have walked with Him all these years, loving Him even more with each passing year. We rejoice at whatever way the Lord sees fit to share the good news and reach young people for Him. Hallelujah and amen!

We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things.
Romans 2:2
Father God Almighty, the One True God, ever Sovereighn and Holy, Father I thank You for the powerful & public witness of Kanye. Lord You are separating the tares from the wheat. Thank You that nothing remains in darkness when Your light shines, and that is exactly what is happening as those who call themselves Christian’s are in need of much wisdom and discernment and time spent in Your Holy Scripture.
Father, we know & Kanye knows much attack will come, and we cover him, his family in prayers with the blood of Christ for protection from evil and temptation.

Lord, for any of us in communication to the next generation may this be used to open doors of communication to speak the Truth of the Gospel. Father it is all Your power to save whom you will save, but we are to send Your Gospel message forth, and may it not return void. From the inner city streets, to the college campuses, concert venues and beyond, may this be a tool to evangelize, and may we not miss an opportunity while it is still called today in Jesus Holy name and for His glory alone!!
Amen

I’m praying for Kanye and his entire family. This information is precious to me, and a prompting to pour out prayer on his behalf at this time when he may surely be attacked and derided on all sides. I’m praying that God Himself gathers Kanye and his family under His wings of protection, and that He Himself minister to Kanye at this time when it took much courage for Kanye to testify of his new faith. The devil is reeeeeally mad at him, and so will the devil’s minions and agents and even those who profess to be Christians. WE need to come together and pray for Kanye now, more than ever. We ALL need prayer. Surely this includes Kanye. Father may it be so, in Jesus name, amen.
