The Democrat-controlled U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday approved legislation enabling “married” same-sex couples to seek millions in tax refunds for unions that were not previously recognized under federal tax law.
The PRIDE (Promoting Respect for Individuals’ Dignity and Equality) Act removes sex-specific terms such as “husband” and “wife” from the federal tax code, and allows couples “married” while the Defense of Marriage Act (which protected states and the federal government from having to recognize same-sex “marriages” from states that chose to recognize them) to claim tax refunds for which they were ineligible.
The U.S. Supreme Court struck down DOMA in 2013. The Washington Blade reported that the Joint Committee on Taxation put the estimated amount the feds could have to pay out if the bill becomes law at $67 million.
The PRIDE Act passed the House on Wednesday by voice vote, meaning lawmakers were not required to put a vote on the record. Notably, no Republican resisted. The Hill noted that New York GOP Rep. Tom Reed expressed a technical concern about the legislation but supported its core purpose to “make sure our tax code is reflective of the law of the land as it has been declared by the Supreme Court.”
Massachusetts senator and 2020 presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren is spearheading the bill’s Senate counterpart. It’s not yet known whether Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will allow it to come up for a vote, or whether President Donald Trump, who is conservative on some LGBT issues but supportssame-sex “marriage” and homosexual “pride,” would sign it into law.
“What Ms. Warren doesn’t mention to people is the IRS already allows everyone to amend the last three years of returns,” Tammy Bruce, a Fox News contributor and gay conservative, wrote last month. “Instead, she wants couples to be able to amend their tax returns for the entire time they were married in one of the 10 states allowing gay marriage prior to federal recognition. … But why stop there? What about all the gays and lesbians who never had a chance to marry at all because of the Clinton administration’s Defense of Marriage Act?
“That has to be asked because this has nothing to do with tax fairness and everything to do with reinforcing the politics of resentment and victimhood,” Bruce argued. “For the Democratic Party machine, however, there can never be success, there always has to be a new appended wrong or violation, some new campaign to convince you that victimhood will never end, and you must always resent, well, everyone.” (Excerpt from LifeSite News.)

Lord, I pray that Your people would contact their Senators to express their disapproval of this legislation. We can’t right every perceived wrong of every person in the past. Since You disapprove of same sex unions, I do too. Strike down this ungodly legislation Father through Your church.
Heavenly Father You are the creator God of every male and female.

Everything these politicians do and pass makes me ill inside.
To continually witness societies decline is a sad, sad thing.
I pray You give Your children strength and boldness along with genuine care and concern for the LGBTQ people. I pray You pour Your Spirit mightily on these individuals and rescue as many as will hear from the fire. That You would deliver and restore.
I pray You would deliver and restore sanity and common sense to this nation. You would stop the politicians from passing their own agendas and be the elected officials that they are suppose to be.

We are turning our back on God. I am reminded of how the Old Testament Israelites did the same thing over and over and over again. We have so many reminders in the Bible of what happens when we fail to follow the precepts that God gave us.I shudder to think of what lies ahead if we don’t repent as a nation. The United States continues to adopt the same practices other nations have been following for a long time now especially concerning homosexual rights and practices. Is this the kind of country we want to leave for our grandchildren and great grandchildren? We are accepting these things little by little like the frog in the water. The story is often used as a metaphor for the inability or unwillingness of people to react to or be aware of sinister threats that arise gradually rather than suddenly. This is all of us unless we wake up! Pray every day that God will give you the discernment to be aware of what’s coming and of our surroundings. It’s already here!! Find like-minded people who you can lift up our country with in prayer.
Praying in unity according to the Word of God is our answer; along with letting our voice be heard to our leaders on government by calling and writing them with our concerns and opinions about what we as Americans believe; that our leaders in government are there to serve the American people and not themselves. We definitely need term limits and that will eliminate a lot of greed and political power grabbers. Government leaders need to abide by our Constitution given us by God and our forefathers and NOT re-interpret the Constitution. Abortion is murder of innocent babies lives and that’s a proven scientific fact. God remove the scales from We the American people’s eyes ( everyone) and let us see truth and love as you love. Father we need your love, mercy, grace, truth and Justice to prevail in our hearts, minds and souls. Forgive us our sins as a nation and heal our land; bringing us back to the foundational truths this nation was founded upon; in Jesus name we pray. The greatest gift you can give someone is to serve in love and truth. Happiness comes from an honest, giving heart of love. Greed and self centeredness only bring sorrow, misery and in the end death. Let us pray for unity in our nation. God help us! Amen!

Father, may Your will be done. We repent for manipulating Your church and our culture and ask forgiveness all the way down to each person so our DNA becomes Your original intent. We have played God and made ourselves idols. Forgive us and change our flawed mindset back to Your Wisdom.
Tax refunds to families are in most cases, because of children who don’t work and need taking care of. Let their sin come up them in the House, and not the USA.
So, is this a done deal or does it need to pass the Senate? Is there opportunity to make your voice known?
Roger, the bill only passed in Congress, it still has to go through the Senate and if it passes there then to the President. There is still time to contact Senators and the President.
This is not a “done-deal.” It would have to pass the Senate and survive a veto. Let your voice be heard with your Senators.
How long will our Lord stand for our idleness in allowing these things to go on in our country. We call ourselves Christians, Servants of Christ, yet we sit back and watch our country murder innocent babies in what is called pro-choice abortion, it is not choice, and it is not a medical procedure it is murder, and not much different than the babies sacrificed to the gods in the Old Testament, and although we don’t do it, our tax money has been paying for it, and our elected officials have been approving it. Now homosexuality is being approved by these same people that we have put into office. Well it is time for us to remove them! The do not represent us. They do not honor God. Our country is supposed to be a country Under God we Trust. Well what god are we trusting? The real God or the evil ones?

My flesh wants to respond in so many ways!! I can see the importance of putting on the Full Armor of God!! And depending on the Spirit of God in me to lead and guide me!! And therefore I take the Word of God in Psalm 68:1 that says

The Left owns the Democratic Party. Those at the very top who run the Republican Party are also corrupted. The Republican Party is just somewhat better. In fact, the two party duopoly has failed us miserably. I know for a fact that very few Christian Americans will ever bother to do the work of knowing what is going on in Congress, and calling their Congressmen to let their opinion be known. I do believe that many churches still pray for our leaders on a regular basis. Thank God so many obey His Word in that regard. But Christians and conservatives long ago accepted the false meme that you can’t do anything about government and that your voice will not be heard. People are so easily brainwashed by the Psychology obsessed powers that be. I know this is true because of those times when a tiny number of conservatives, around 1 1/2%, have beaten back the Progressive agenda by their calls and email to Congress. The body of Christ in America would rather say “the Lord said it was going to be this way” than take a few minutes out of their day to be salt and light to Congress and within this nation. This is just my opinion. God forgive and correct me if I speak wrongly about His body.

This is same as the reparations those in congress wanted for blacks that happened years ago and continues today. It is also an unfair burden on the tax payers, and nothing more than pushing an agenda that many people have been forced to live with. I pray that the good people in the Senate will be wise enough to understand the implications it can bring to the rest of the nation. Again we have become a lost nation without God.
