America is broken. Not just in the many obvious ways that are all over the media, but specifically in three foundational institutions of America: family, government, and the Church.
God created these three institutions to care for our needs as individuals. Today we are facing crises worse than most of us have seen in our lifetimes. Perhaps more important, we are seeing the utter breakdown of each of these institutions. In some ways it seems that this has happened suddenly, but the evidence of breakdown has been present for many years.
First, let’s look at the family. When I was a teenager in the 1980s, it was still fairly unacceptable to live with someone who was not a spouse. Most children were raised by a father and mother who were married to each other. Sunday dinners and holidays meant gatherings with extended family. Homosexuality was rare. Even as late as six years ago, transgenderism was considered strange and evidence of mental illness. At that time, people who advocated for abortion said they wanted it to be safe and rare.
What about now? Most couples live together outside of marriage, if they marry at all. Statistics are clear on the rise of children living with unmarried parents. This is not even primarily due to divorce; marriage is steeply declining. “Big, interconnected, and extended families” have given way to increasingly fractured nuclear family units. The actual percentage of homosexuals and bisexuals is debated, but we all can agree that it is now fully mainstream—almost all television programs (even historical ones) have at least one gay character and now children’s programs do as well. Transgenderism is common, even among children. Here, in the conservative D.C. bedroom community where I live (with ample Christian influence), the cross-wearing principal of my son’s elementary school gives a special recognition award to a 5th grade boy and girl every year for outstanding conduct and leadership from kindergarten through 5th grade. This year she awarded it to a boy and a transgender “girl” (who was a boy and two years ago started the school year as a girl). Finally, abortion and now infanticide are championed despite ample evidence of the humanity of the unborn and the fact that fetuses experience pain in abortions.
Family. Broken down.
Let’s look at our government. Intercessors, our government does not function as it was intended and it has not for years. Today, reading Justice Clarence Thomas’ opinion in the ruling on President Trump’s action on the Dreamers program, this truth hit me between the eyes. I can’t write about it better than he did (my comments are in italics and key points are in bold):
(First, a succinct description of the history.) Between 2001 and 2011, Congress considered over two dozen bills that would have granted lawful status to millions of aliens who were illegally brought to this country as children. Each of those legislative efforts failed. In the wake of this impasse, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under President Barack Obama took matters into its own hands. Without any purported delegation of authority from Congress and without undertaking a rulemaking, DHS unilaterally created a program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). The three page DACA memorandum made it possible for approximately 1.7 million illegal aliens to qualify for temporary lawful presence and certain federal and state benefits. When President Donald Trump took office in 2017, his Acting Secretary of Homeland Security, acting through yet another memorandum, rescinded the DACA memorandum. To state it plainly, the Trump administration rescinded DACA the same way that the Obama administration created it: unilaterally, and through a mere memorandum. (This point is paramount. Obama created DACA and Trump rescinded it in exactly the same manner, BUT . . .)
Today the majority makes the mystifying determination that this rescission of DACA was unlawful. In reaching that conclusion, the majority acts as though it is engaging in the routine application of standard principles of administrative law. On the contrary, this is anything but a standard administrative law case. DHS created DACA during the Obama administration without any statutory authorization and without going through the requisite rulemaking process. As a result, the program was unlawful from its inception. The majority does not even attempt to explain why a court has the authority to scrutinize an agency’s policy reasons for rescinding an unlawful program under the arbitrary and capricious microscope. The decision to countermand an unlawful agency action is clearly reasonable. So long as the agency’s determination of illegality is sound, our review should be at an end. (Why didn’t their review end here? The next sentence is vital.)
Today’s decision must be recognized for what it is: an effort to avoid a politically controversial but legally correct decision. The Court could have made clear that the solution respondents seek must come from the Legislative Branch. (The Legislative Branch hasn’t functioned as it should for many years. Watch this succinct description of this by Senator Ben Sasse, or a similar explanation by Senator Josh Hawley.) Instead, the majority has decided to prolong DHS’ initial overreach by providing a stopgap measure of its own. In doing so, it has given the green light for future political battles to be fought in this Court rather than where they rightfully belong—the political branches. (In one week, look at what the Supreme Court has done—redefined “sex” in Title VII, failed to defend the 2nd Amendment, and this decision. These will have a huge impact in our nation and exalt the power of the Supreme Court.) Such timidity forsakes the Court’s duty to apply the law according to neutral principles, and the ripple effects of the majority’s error will be felt throughout our system of self-government. Perhaps even more unfortunately, the majority’s holding creates perverse incentives, particularly for outgoing administrations. Under the auspices of today’s decision, administrations can bind their successors by unlawfully adopting significant legal changes through Executive Branch agency memoranda. Even if the agency lacked authority to effectuate the changes, the changes cannot be undone by the same agency in a successor administration unless the successor provides sufficient policy justifications to the satisfaction of this Court. In other words, the majority erroneously holds that the agency is not only permitted, but required, to continue administering unlawful programs that it inherited from a previous administration. (I cannot put a strong enough emphasis on this. Read it again. Not only is the power of the judiciary exalted, but so is the power of the Executive Branch, even to do what is unlawful.)
Government. Broken down.
What about the Church? Catholics and Protestants have been divided for centuries. How many Protestant denominations are there? Could you even count? And even within denominations, look at the many sects and divisions. How many denominations have split about cultural issues like homosexuality—Presbyterian, Episcopal, Methodist? What will be next? We are split about theological issues as well. Dispensationalism. Baptism. Communion. The list goes on. And right now, the most obvious split is the racial division in the American church.
The pandemic strained the Church, unearthing differences that caused people to call into question the faith and sincerity of other believers based on opinions about gathering, mask-wearing, and social distancing, all non-essentials of our faith. Next the protests and riots. Pastors are caught in the crossfire of cultural debate and the Church is suffering as a result. The Enemy sowed the seeds of destruction and is likely standing back with glee as we tear each other down.
Church. Breaking down.
I would never say the Church is broken down because we stand on the promise of Jesus: “But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. (Mt 16: 15-18)
Intercessors, we must look to Jesus. (Hebrews 12) We must seek Him fervently. We must ask Him to show us if there is anything in us that does not please Him. (Ps 139:23) We must pray, and not give up, for our families, for the government, and for the Church. (Luke 18) Finally, we must realize that while we pray for the family, the government, and the Church, our trust must be solely in Christ.

In agreement. We are in that time when good is called evil and evil, good. Where right is called wrong and wrong, right.
I haven’t really given much time to politics, just the things of God. However, I did vote for President Donald Trump. I am an Intercessor and have been leading a group of prayer warriors since 2001. Many of us are divided when it comes to politics. I am a 53 year old Black woman. Pleasing God is my first priority. My husband just recently divorced me because I would not follow him and join a secret society. I don’t know what goes on behind the scene’s as many of you do, however I can sense that God is trying to clean things up. Last year I received a word from the Lord that the nation needed to Repent (humble themselves and turn from their wicked ways) so that He could heal the land. I’ve been substituting as a teacher since my husband left and the next day I go to work and the lesson that was left for me to teach was about Abraham Lincoln and how he stated that the land needed to heal. I took a picture of the lesson with my cell phone because it was a confirmation of what I could hear from Holy Spirit. I was on sabbatical after my marriage ending, but heard the voice of God tell me to get back up and call for the intercessors to come back. We got back on post in November 2019. We pray in the spirit from 4am until 5am, and then we worship from 5am to 6am. We have been praying for our nation, families, as many of us our husbands have been taken captive by the enemy, and we’ve been praying for the church as well. The black community of Christians that I pray with stand for the truth. I personally believe that many are afraid of racism being present if they vote for President Donald Trump. However, there are a lot of believers that stand for the truth. Sin is sin and God is not pleased with all of the reprobation. At the same time we who are stronger but restore our brothers and sisters gently in Love. For me, and most, we are looking for a happy medium.
Interesting word spoken a couple of weeks back … We think that Satan is “gleefully sitting back and …” I would advise that I believe this is wrong. There is no way the mightiest spirit of hatred and anger could be gleeful. Second, he has been sowing strife in American churches and the world? It’s time to pray that God will sow strife in his “kingdom” like he has been sowing in God’s. Third, we are in the 13th Chapter of the Book of Revelation. The microchip which will be the “Mark of the Beast” (not a number, but the original greek word meant “to prick” has been created, and guess where it will have to be planted in the human body for it to get the power to work? The right hand or the forehead.

I agree with the words in this post. We have missed the call and I am so sad about it. I am writing a paper I hope to publish about “The Bride Divided.” I don’t know who will listen to it or personalize the message but I see it all. The one pendulum swing allows for a strong reliance on the Word of God while marginalizing or just plain rejecting the Person and Work of the Holy Spirit. The other pendulum swing is the Church honoring the Holy Spirit and operating in the gifts, but embracing wholesale sin in the name of Love, and in extreme cases, being blown by every wind of doctrine because of a poor command of the Truth in the Word of God. We need to be PLUMBLINE.

Father, family was Your idea and design. I ask that we return to the boundaries of Your word, Your will. I pray our children and grandchildren would be discerning ones, God-centered ones, honoring the authorities You have placed in their lives for their protection. I pray they grow in wisdom, stature (influence) and grace with You, God and man, distances themselves from the rebellious and fearing You, God and the anointed leaders You have established for their good. Thank You for planting the teachings of the Lord in their hearts. I bring before You those who have been provoked to wrath because of ungodly influences of fathers, superiors, without character. I pray You view each of these children as special seedlings – place them in the way of godly influencers – even their friendsNurture them with Your special love graces and mercy to restore them to oneness with Yourself – You are the God of the impossible – there is nothing too difficult for You. Pronounce a blessing over Donald Trump that he shall fulfill his Cyrus/Truman calling according to Isaiah 45. Let’s pray through Daniel 9 in humility and repentance for our president, for our nation and for Israel and it’s leaders. Let’s also decree the passages of Ezekiel 36 over the land of Israel and the Jewish people until they have fully come to pass. Also, be encouraged that as we decree in faith the very word of the Lord, it releases His angels to do His bidding and hinders occultic prayers and curses from accomplishing their objectives.

I am convinced that our Heavenly Father allowed the devastating COVID-19 to reveal His disgust with the body of Christ. The failure of those representatives of Christ to stand firm on biblical truths has led to this perfect storm described in this article. We have mega churches filled to the brim with souls hungry to be fed but the shepherds failed to preach against just the basics of salvation. Instead the main focus is increasing crowd size and multiply income from the collection plates. Thus, the church has become weak and ineffective.

Fasting and prayer change hearts to allow God to be heard. The divided church must unite and return to the great commission of saving souls from eternal damnation. My God have mercy on those who fail to heed His warning.
This phony pandemic did expose several “splits” in the church, but I disagree that the most obvious one was in racial divisions. None of what is occurring in our nation right now has anything to do with “race”. Racism, racist, and racial divide are the tools the adversary is using to foment division, hatred, turmoil, riots, and unrest. These are his most tangible weapons.In my observation the lack of leadership, and courage among religious leaders has been exposed and this is the greatest divide we face. For the past 50 years the church has allowed itself to be relegated to the “back of the bus” by the secular forces that populate our government. Instead of demanding the maintenance of the Judaeo-Christian principles which formed one of the pillars of our society, many of the clergy have “gone along to get along” with the desire to retain their tax exempt status and avoid involvement in the controversial moral issues that have plagued our conscious for decades. Ministers of the gospel have in effect abdicated their political responsibility. Politics from a Greek word meaning ‘affairs of the cities’ is defined as the set of activities that are associated with making decisions in groups, or other forms of power relations between individuals. Being politically involved is more than supporting a candidate, voting in an election, belonging to a specific party, or the academic study of political science. The Declaration of Independence is a theological manifesto. There is not a right asserted in this founding document which had not been discussed by the New England clergy before 1763. They were involved in politics. Because we no longer teach American History most of us are ignorant of the fact that many of its tenets were the topics of sermons preached every week at Sabbath services. Once upon a time courageous and patriotic clergymen in this country formed a regiment in the Continental Army known as the “BLACK ROBES Regiment”, designated as such because a clergyman donned a black robe when he took the pulpit. The British in fact have blamed the Black Robe Regiment as the cause of the American Revolution. Methodist bishop and historian Charles Galloway observed in 1898,”Mighty men they were, of iron nerve and strong hand and unblanched cheek and heart of flame. God needed not reeds shaken by the wind, not men clothed in soft raiment [Matthew 11:7-8], but heroes of hardihood and lofty courage. . . And such were the sons of the mighty who responded to the Divine call. The first movement toward democracy in America was inaugurated in the house of God and with the blessing of the minister of God. Where are those stalwart defenders of religious freedom and our rights under the Constitution today? They acquiesced unquestioning,in whole heart support of allowing the government to trample the First Amendment. The greatest division among the churches is not skin color, its lack of conviction and irresponsibility.
In the mix of the witches bringing in such confusion into the atmosphere is it such a surprise that the enemies will is being done in the courts. To steal, to kill, to destroy that is his mode of operation. To accuse, to condemn. Now the satanist are rising up. Mmm Worship now!! Worship now!! Worship the King!!! He is the Victorious Champion!! You are correct, the country has been breaking down for decades and Christians are partly to blame because they have stood by and allowed those who hate Jesus and blame God for everything, to gain prominence in government and schools. The followers of Satan are attempting to separate us from our Lord and King. I think God is telling us, “I have raised up a man to help you! But, he needs all of you who believe in me to help him. So, get off your fannies Christian soldiers and march as to war! Don’t be afraid, trust me, engage the enemy and fight. I will help you.”
The effects of a “watered down church or more aptly, the Body of Christ” is most certainly being exposed in the various crisises we see today. I fear many who know God don’t fear Him in the respectful reverence that is due Him. Lukewarmness has permeated so many within the body of Christ that it’s both sad and sickening. God is giving us an opportunity to change our path and become the vessels He longs for us to be. And the period we have entered will either reshape the people of God into passionate devotion to Him again or it will cause a great falling away. I sincerely pray that we, as His people…will find the devotion and passion again. The lost in our nation are yearning for the truth and answers…. and God is calling his people to bring the Truth to them. The days of sitting comfortably on the sidelines are done.
All three, but especially, the Church must trust in these scriptures, and remember to Rise up! and call on, and teach their congregations to Fear Not and Rise up as well.

True. The breakdown has been coming for years. This is what happens when a nation leaves out God. America has found new ‘gods’: man, mammon, and pride. God says he will have no other gods before Him. He has richly blessed America and we act as though everything belongs to us. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein. We won’t feed the hungry or clothe the naked. We condemn abortion on the one hand and on the other hand, refuse medical care for those who cannot afford it. Children go to school everyday hungry and instead of feeding them, they are shamed. Jesus said that what we have done to the least of these, we have done unto Him. Then we whine and cry because we can’t gather to ‘worship’ because of the pandemic. Jesus warned the Pharisees of this very same thing. We have left out the greater things. The Church is called to be salt and light. We have been neither, to our shame. Father God, I ask You to forgive us. We have shamed Your Name and need mercy. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
It starts with the division of the church. The Bible is the infallible WORD of God. Period. It’s not a cafeteria plan where denominations can pick and choose the scriptures and delete those that don’t fit their personal narrative. Our God is in control and He never slumbers. Let us Glorify God as we humbly acknowledge our only hope is in the Creator of Heaven and earth. Father we pray your perfect will forth. In all our thought and actions, we purpose to glorify You. May love reign in our hearts and actions. Stretch all who have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus to love those who hate us, offer our other cheek, and walk forward in your strength and not ours. I don’t have the solutions. You do Father. I trust You with the government which you will restore by answering the nations prayers according to your Holy Word.
I ask Father in the name of Jesus, warring angels to restrain the masses of demonic fallen angels, princes of principalities and evil that appear falsely to be in control of this country. We acknowledge with great joy,: You our Holy God are in control. With Your peace that surpasses all understanding we pray and move forward according to your determined equipping of every child of yours. Your perfect love cast out all fear. In the name of Jesus. Amen
Thank you, Judy, for your insightful wisdom. We can pray for these huge needs with faith, hope, and peace as we keep our eyes on Jesus. He is calling us to walk on the water with Him as He leads us through gigantic winds and waves. Being close and safe with Jesus in the midst of our society’s massive shaking is a place of peace and power, a great privilege! God is shaking our nation, purging it, ridding it of dependence on man, causing upheaval and breakdown, in order to lead our nation back to Himself. Although the process seems horrible, the results will eventually show to be spiritually astounding! So let’s love Him with all our hearts, keep walking on the water with Him in faith, and keep praying. Our prayers open the door on earth for God to step in and do His God-sized amazing work of judgment and grace.

well said ! But where do we go from here? NATIONAL REPENTANCE ! the USA has not had such a call for a national sacred assembly since 1918, 102 years ago. Please awaken the “spiritual advisors” around the President that 10 earlier Presidents called for such a spiritual weapon in times of great danger. Each time God responded, blessing the nation. Pray for President Trump to open his heart and mind for this key spiritual Truth. God is waiting to respond!

Thankful for Judge Thomas. It is unreal what are in schools. I was raised with a Mother and Father who worked together to raise us in a loving caring home. Family breakdown has ruined America.
Colossians 215 gives us the legal right to enforce Christ victory. Through the death on the on the cross Christ dismantled all the powers and authority of the enemy. All his weapons have been stripped away from him and now the church has the authority in Christ to enforce his triumph … Another way is to say that the fivefold ministry is to enforce his tryout to all the thrones and authorities putting them all to public shame by the manifestation of himself in them. So the church the body of Christ is to in force on the earth in government in all seven mountains of society Crice Trump. And we have failed so if evil is raining and our government and family and religion is displays dysfunctional or it’s being dismantled it’s because the forces of evil At work and we as the church the body of Christ have failed to enforce Christ rule and reign we need to stand strong and united and say not on my watch but the church has been lolled asleep… A spirit of slumber has taken over the church and has given them the attitude of que Seda seda … Many think oh well this was all prophesied… This is just a sign of the times and so they do nothing because they think that by seeing the signs it’s just prophecy being fulfilled.🤦🏻♀️ Unfortunately they do not understand that God said occupy until he comes that means take ground. look at the old testament our forefathers in the faith were constantly taking ground against the amelikites or the Philistines in and possessing the land and we as Christians don’t possess nothing!! We havent taught our young people how to intercede they don’t even know how to render their garments or or pray at the altar until they break through and travail and in prayer it is a sad sad thing and a lot of it has to fall at the feet of the Pastors & teachers!!

Father God, Most Holy One, may we understand Your Holiness, Your Headship over our lives. All of this division is from Your enemy and You allow it. Lord we need You. Nothing of our own can fix this yet our pride, our selfishness, our unbelief manifests in ways that are contrary to that thought, we seek man’s ways to fix the evil in this world, unlawful practices, but if we dont seek Your will first, examining ourselves for hidden sin and be willing to repent of it, we are only being used as puppets for the evil one. We must humble ourselves, seek Your First, daily always in all things, every aspect of our lives and THEN You will hear our prayers. Father these man made empty morale coaching from the pulpit that fails to focus on the falleness of the human race is an abomination to You. Lord we lift up those in the pulpit, may they be convicted of the error of their man made teaching, repent and return to preaching from the Word of God. Only then can we rightly rebuke sin according to Your standard of Righteousness and seek Justice for evil doers, in the family, in government in entertainment and in the church. Right is wrong and wrong is right. May we be willing to stand in the ways You command and have called us for such a time as this and be it all for Your Glory alone. Jesus IS Lord. I woke up this morning with The Battle Hymn of the Republic on my mind and heart. It reminded me of a documentary I saw long ago called The Singing Revolution where masses of people in Estonia gathered to simply sing their national songs while the communist soldiers were trying to take over their country. The Estonians pushed the invaders out of their country without firing a shot!
What my heart cries for is Americans of all colors and backgrounds coming together on the streets of our cities to SING this Battle Hymn, among others. Nashville has already begun with Amazing Grace. May the Lord raise up organizers to get this moving!

Again, for a number of years the Lord has revealed to me my hypocrisy, cowardliness and lack of integrity in representing Him. It has sobered me and in repentance I realize apart from faith in Him I can do nothing in the Kingdom of God. Like Peter, I’ve been sifted, but the Lord has prayed for me, and now I can intercede in humbleness and through His grace know He hears my prayers. How many can say they have received this scourging?
“For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.” Hebrews 12:6
As I read this I mourn…because of the facts it reveals. How the Holy Spirit must be grieved! – The One who Jesus told his disciples, that when He came, “would lead them into ALL truth”. It doesn’t take long to look around and see the symptoms of the fissures, the deep cracks that threaten to break off large pieces of the secure foundation. WHO are we listening to? It eventually is revealed on the outside what is going on inside.
Our very clothing is an indication of our generally kinked thinking, too tight, skimpy, and full of holes! – And as if that isn’t disrespectful enough, exposed between the holes, beautifully created bodies are covered with graffiti! “Made in the image of ???” Our “world view” has become so tainted with what the world thinks, we have taken their criticism of us as guidelines instead of the clear direction of, “every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
A couple of things.
The Supreme Court is the only branch that seems to be immune to punishment from the other branches when justices step out of line. Yes, justices can be impeached, but I am unaware of that ever happening. This is unfortunate, since there is no redress to bad court decisions except for the violation of them by the citizens, i.e., civil disobedience.
I’d support an amendment that would enable court decisions that were clearly unconstitutional to be challenged by the other branches. Also, some wording for the removal of justices who repeatedly try to legislate from the bench should also be added.
Yes, I know that this would be highly challenging and maybe even impossible. Something to seek God’s wisdom on?
As for the rest of it, I think all of these things we have been praying about, but we are seeing, I think, that the problems are deeper and more extreme than we ever thought.
Fasting may be in order. I’ll be honest: I hate fasting. But, it might need to be done.
Obviously we can challenge brothers and sisters who we see are living or preaching outside Biblical standards, but a lot of them may not have open hearts to rebuke. That is where God can come in and do only what He can do: turn stone hearts to flesh.
Keith, Fasting is not too bad if you do a juice fast. It allows the organs of your body to rest. U can stay focussed on whatever God has called you to pray about. U don’t feel hungry really. For example, today I am doing a juice fast so I can stay focussed on praying for Rachel and Conner. It’s their wedding day today and I can’t be there. I prepared a carrot, apple, ginger juice. I prepared a lime, cucumber juice. I drank coffee this morning. I drank two cups of milk. That’s enough for one day. Tomorrow I will appreciate being able to eat a regular diet again. “Father in heaven, could you teach the body of Christ the importance again of fasting as laid out in your Word? Our country is in need of supernatural intervention. We know the source of our strength. It is U. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.”

Heavenly FAther, In Jesus’ Name, I acknowledge in the presence of your Holiness that often times the “good that I would do, I do not, and the evil I would not do, I do”. I am so sorry, Triune God. How your heart must break for Your creation. Thank You for your unending love and forgiveness. Individually and institutionally we are broken. Heavenly FAther, comfort, heal, and send us out to be “salt and light”. Thank You for loving us so much You use us to bring your Kingdom to Earth. Help Your people to be strong in the midst of the battle. The strength of those who hope in You will be renewed. They will soar on wings as eagles, they will run and not be weary (in prayer). They will walk and not faint (be discouraged) as the battle rages. (Isa. 40:31) Thank you, Lord for all your promises and Your Word which strengthens us. I pray our Bibles will gather no dust. We will feed on Your Word daily for wisdom and strength. Help us Lord, to be faithful. Amen
I say loudly, Lord Jesus, thank you for salvation and redeeming us thru taking what happened on the way to Calvary and at Calvary,over 2,000yrs ago. This is Your battle dear Lord, this battle belongs to You, dear Lord. Forgive us for continually falling short of Your Glory, everyday, help us become more and more dependent on Your Holy Spirit to live and follow You, and share Your Love, everyday as we walk by Your Grace, by Your Word, AND ONLY BY YOUR HOLY SPIRIT, IN JESUS name, we pray, thank you for hearing my cry, and above all else, let Your will be done,in Jesus name, in Jesus name, here on earth as it is in heaven, Amen, Amen.
