I Prayed have prayed
God, we ask that You lead our leaders in wisdom regarding how much funding to allocate, and to which programs. Help them to act with integrity, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Reading Time: 2 minutes

While it is not unheard of for spouses of lawmakers to hold a Senate-appointed role, we should be aware of funding included in each bill, and why it is included. The sheer volume of funding currently being allocated is cause for question, and lawmakers need to be held accountable.

A commission run by the wife of Democratic West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin would receive $1 billion from the bipartisan infrastructure bill, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Gayle Conelly Manchin co-chairs the Appalachian Regional Commission, an economic development partnership between the federal government and 13 Appalachian states…

The $1 billion distributed over five years, which was originally part of Biden’s American Jobs Plan infrastructure proposal that preceded the bipartisan bill, would fund the Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization initiative. The program provides grants to communities affected by job losses in the coal industry.

In a May statement, Gayle Conelly Manchin said that the $1 billion would help the commission “to more adequately meet the overwhelming needs of communities impacted by job losses resulting from the decline in the coal industry. These ARC grants will be instrumental to the long-term diversification and economic growth in Appalachia.”…

Sen. Joe Manchin, considered the most centrist member of the Senate Democratic caucus and a key swing vote for Democrats, was part of a bipartisan group of senators who crafted the bill, which includes $550 billion new spending over five years…

Folks – read between the lines on this story.
Manchin claims to be centrist, which is a slick term for “waffler on issues” or “I say one thing but do another”. The fact that his wife works in ‘cooperation’ with The butcher governor Northam is a major red flag. Northam is supportive of killing the unborn for all nine months and killing them after the child is born. They can try & dress this up as anything they want to but it reeks of something putrid.
I’m sure they are helping (or they say they are) those displaced by coal industry losses. But when did that take place? Oh yes, the vast majority of those losses were the direct result of Obama’s decision & rulings to gut the coal industry with the stroke of a pen. And that is exactly what happened. Whether we like it or not, Democrat Obama with support from many within his party managed to put 50% of the nation’s coal businesses and workers out of a job – permanently. And now here we are, a few years later, “bailing out” another horrible government decision with taxpayer money that we don’t have.
If we don’t stand up to these charades, this nation, as we once knew it, will be lost.
Manchin and the press might be selling him as a good guy but that just isn’t true.
