I Prayed have prayed

In the book of Revelation, God opens a window for us into the throne room and we catch a glimpse of what is taking place there. There, we see two significant activities—praise and worship, and prayer—both of which we can be involved with right now. What a privilege!

The reality is, however, we can live our whole lives; we can pray, worship, go to church, do everything without ever being conscious of the throne room. But if we never turn our focus towards God’s throne, and towards Heaven—are we missing out on something?

Since, you’ve been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. (Col 3:1-3 )

God commands us in Scripture to fix our attention on heavenly things and to live focused on heaven’s priorities. Here are just three of the benefits of being conscious of Heaven and the throne room in our worship and prayer:

1. You Encounter God in His Glory

I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. (Is 6:1)

When you are aware of God’s throne, you have the opportunity to perceive God as He really is. You encounter His glory. Worship—as in flat on our face reverence and awe—can only be our natural response to this kind of encounter with God.

What is completely astounding is that we get to call this glorious, eternal, Sovereign, ruling God ‘Father’.He’s the King of the universe and He is also our Abba, our Daddy. What does that say about who we are?

2. You Gain a Full Appreciation of What Jesus has Done

He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. (1 Sam 2:8)

Our presence in the throne room, where we get to call God Father, tells us more than anything else, the power of the salvation we have in Jesus Christ. Right here is the key to freedom from shame.

Count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. (Rom 6:11)

The Bible tells us Jesus has taken away our shame and seated us with Him, upon His throne of honour. What good news! You don’t have to keep on dying over and over to sin. You are already crucified, buried, raised and ascended with Christ. It’s time to honour and place the highest value on what Jesus has done—He paid the price of His life, and you honour Him by simply believing. The cycle of shame has been broken.

The Bible doesn’t say your position is one of grovelling or begging before God’s throne, but of striding in boldly as a son or daughter. Hebrews 4:16 says, Let us approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Because of what Jesus’ shed blood on the cross, there is nothing that can hold you back.

3. An Increased Awareness of Your Spiritual Authority

You have freedom of access to the throne room. But there is more! According to Scripture, you are seated with Jesus on His throne, upon His seat of authority. There, you can hear the whispers of what is on His heart, and pray in His Name.

Jesus taught us to pray Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. (Matt 6: 9-10)

Jesus is saying, “Always begin your prayer with an awareness of your Father’s location. And with your Father’s Kingship in view you can pray for the outcome He has already initiated.” The throne room is the position from which you access Heaven’s resources. Psalm 103 says, The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. (Ps 103:19-20)

All of Heaven’s resources are released by God’s decree, from His throne. And by praying in awareness of that, you can discern your Father’s will, partner in intimacy with God, and access the resources of Heaven!

Today I pray that as you turn your attention towards the throne of God, you’ll encounter Him like you never have before, live free from shame, and step into the fullness of the authority that is yours in Christ.

Thank you for the word of scripture and encouragement. I’m in prayer room and on prayer calls. My times of praying are best when I know I am in that heavenly throne room seated in Christ at my Fathers right hand. There I can ask “what about this?” And He answers through me. Such times are both more than I could do or say and in that the answer is being watched over as stated in Psalm 103:19-20. I want more of that. And in the between times I will declare the Word and release it in faith.

I love this guide and appreciate your comments especially the Scripture References. However, I have had a prayer line for 15 years, seven days a week 6:00AM (CST) Everyone is invited to pray “their” prayer. I also prayer corporate prayers and focused prayers. However, the one I love the most is my sincere prayer from my heart.

I love this article! Sometimes in prayer or worship – the thought of going into God’s throne room – GOD’S THRONE ROOM! As a young child going into their father’s room to talk to Him or just tell Him ” I love you daddy”! He gives us that privilege! Almost too much to handle or even fathom. What a great and loving God we serve. Everyone should receive the grace of God and His everlasting mercy with awe and humility. Why we as humans forsake such a great love as His is beyond comprehension and His offer of His love is free to everyone who will just receive and believe! I praise you Father in Heaven, You are so wonderful. Thank you for everything.

Praise God for this post. It is very powerful and completely
scriptural. Our lives are His and on Him should our thoughts be.
He is the great King with eternal glory.
