SENATE HEALTH CARE - Democrat Senator Ben Nelson from Nebraska and Independent Senator Joe Lieberman from Connecticut have said they will join a Republican filibuster of Senator Reid's health care bill if they think it is a financially bad bill, if it mandates tax-funded abortion or has a takeover public option. Let's pray for America.

Father God, we thank you for the Stupak amendment in the House health plan which bans tax-funded abortion, and we thank you for Senators Nelson and Lieberman. Grant them wisdom and strength. We pray for full debate and that all Senate health plans are posted for public review. We pray for fiscal responsibility, and ask that You to cause Senator Reid to keep his word that the Senate plan will "ensure that no federal funds are used for abortion." In Jesus' Name. Amen.

ASIAN SUMMITS - President Obama is the most traveled first-year president ever. The trip he is now on to Asia will add four countries to the 16 he has already visited. He and Secretary of State Clinton are attending strategic meetings with heads of state in Japan, China, Singapore and South Korea. They are also participating in a 21-nation Pacific Rim economic summit. Let's pray for the President and U.S. Delegation.

Father, we ask you to watch over, strengthen and protect President Obama, Secretary of State Clinton, the U.S. delegation, and all leaders participating in these meetings. Expose and thwart any terrorist plans. Grant wisdom and grace for cooperation concerning defusing threats from North Korea and Iran, peaceful co-existence, currencies, climate, free trade, imports and exports, and the joint funding of development in Iraq and Afghanistan. ECONOMY / JOB CREATION - Are you looking for a job? If so, there are six or seven other people waiting in line for the same job. In 2007 there were only one or two other people applying for the same job. Our national average unemployment rate is now over 10 per cent. In some communities one out of every four people are out of work. Let's pray for America.

Father, thank you that you care for us and desire us to work. Thank you for less foreclosures and new housing starts, but some of this is short-term due to bailouts and an artificial stimulus of the economy. Because 60 percent of jobs are created by small businesses, we ask you Father God, to inspire, guide and provide so that men and women can start new companies and create jobs. In Jesus' name. Amen.

ADOPTION MONTH - November is National Adoption Month. It began in Massachusetts in 1976, and has been celebrated nationwide since 1990. The 10th annual National Adoption Day will be celebrated on November 21st. There are over 496,000 children currently in foster care and 130,000 of these are waiting for permanent families. Of the children in need of adoption, 31 percent are African-American and 43 percent are older than eight. Let's pray for America.

Father, your word says that you desire to "set the fatherless in families." Please look with mercy upon the hundreds of thousands of children who are in foster care. Preserve them from abuse and place them in loving homes. Lead them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Prompt and enable Christian husbands and wives to take in and adopt foster children. We pray with thanksgiving in Jesus name. Amen.

THANKSGIVING / PRAISE - Did you know that the first official Thanksgiving holiday was actually the National Day of Thanksgiving and Praise? That's right; the first formal proclamation was issued by President Abraham Lincoln. In his proclamation he writes, "the great things [of America]...are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who... has remembered mercy... I invite my fellow citizens to...observe the last Thursday of November, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father... to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore [its] divine purposes..." Incredible words! Incredible to think that Lincoln made this proclamation even in the midst of the Civil War. Pray with me for America.

MAINE REJECTS SAME-SEX - On November 3rd Maine became the 31st state to reject same-sex marriage. There has not been one state which has approved same-sex marriage when it has been put to a public vote. The supporters of traditional marriage in your nation's capital, Washington, DC, are battling for their right to vote on this issue. Let's pray for America.

Father, thank you for answering prayer and showing Your hand in our November elections. Thank you that voters in Maine and in 30 other states have helped preserve traditional marriage. We ask that you strengthen, support and grant wisdom to Bishop Harry Jackson, DC Council Member Walter Founteroy, and all in the coalition who are battling for the right of the citizens of Washington to vote on this issue, in Jesus' mighty Name. NY SILENT PRAYER CONVICTION - Alliance Defense Fund lawyers will argue an appeal before a New York county court tomorrow on behalf of seven Christians who were arrested in June, 2007, and found "guilty" of "disorderly conduct." The seven had laid prostrate and prayed silently in a city park for a few moments during a public "Gay Pride" event. Let's pray for America.

Father, thank You for the courage of these New York believers, and for all who are suffering for professing their faith in Christ, and for sharing biblical beliefs. We ask You to defend and vindicate these seven Christians in court tomorrow. Anoint and put Your words into the mouths of their attorneys. HEALTH CARE FREEDOM - Health Care reform has unleashed some of the worst "hard ball" politics we have seen in years. One recent example was House Speaker Pelosi's ordering of a "Rule" to insert pro-abortion funding language and exclude a House vote on Bart Stupak's amendment to prevent tax-funded systems of abortion. Let's pray for America.

Father, we ask that You intervene and prevent the federal takeover of health care, the federal rationing of care, and the tax-payer funding of abortion. We pray that these options be considered: freedom to buy health insurance across state lines; a pooling of health insurance plans to lower premium costs; that states could create their own reforms to cut costs; legal tort reform to lower doctors' malpractice insurance costs. Please preserve our constitutional freedoms and free enterprise. In Jesus' name. Amen.

SONOGRAM CONVERSION - The director of Planned Parenthood in Bryan, Texas, stood in a clinic room watching the ultrasound image of a baby as the doctor was aborting it. Abby Johnson, who had directed the abortion clinic for eight years said, "I just thought, I can't do this anymore, and it was just like a flash hit me, and I thought ‘that's it!" She resigned and said Planned Parenthood "bosses" had been pressuring her for months to get more women in for abortions - for money. Let's pray for America.

Father, thank You for this powerful testimony. Bless, protect and guide Abby Johnson and all like her. Visit and bring conviction and conversion "in a flash" upon more Planned Parenthood directors and doctors and nurses who are performing abortions.

HATE CRIMES - Christians lawyers are warning that the "hate crimes" laws, almost secretly attached and passed as part of Defense Appropriations, will pave the way for the "criminalization of speech" that is not deemed to be "politically correct." Similar laws in Canada and other countries have been used to stop pastors from preaching against homosexual practice. Let's pray for America.

Father, we lament that these measures were deceptively passed and signed into law by President Obama. We thank you for the pastors who are coming to Washington, DC on November 16th and who will publically preach from the Bible near Attorney General Eric Holder's office. We ask that you use this public witness and the work of Christian lawyers to cause Attorney General Holder to respect and defend the religious liberty of all Americans. In Jesus' name we pray.

STUPAK - On September 9^th President Obama spoke to the Congress and the nation and said (quote) "...under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortion, and federal conscience laws [the Hyde Amendment passed in 1976] will remain in place." (close quote) The President is now flip-flopping on this promise. Michigan Democrat Representative Bart Stupak is challenging Obama and spearheading a battle in the House to prevent public funding of abortion in health care reform. Let's pray for America.

LIEBERMAN - Independent Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman took a stand that he will help filibuster Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's announced "public option" health plan, even if it has an "opt out" provision. SUPREME COURT - Hi, this is Dave from Intercessors for America. The Supreme Court is hearing two cases regarding juvenile violent offenders. Global organizations are presenting briefs arguing that the UN's Convention on the Rights of the Child be applied to Florida law as a matter of binding (quote) "Customary International Law" (close quote). Sixteen members of the House of Representatives have filed an opposing brief which argues that this use of international law is contrary to both the facts and the law. Let's pray for America.

DOC FIX BLOCKED - There was a surprise development in answer to our Health Care Reform prayers: Twelve U.S. Senate Democrats and Independent Joe Lieberman joined a unanimous Republican caucus in blocking consideration of the Medicare Physicians Fairness Act. Popularly known as "doc fix," the legislation would repeal Medicare's current payment formula for doctors. The $247 billion price tag would have been added to health care costs, raising the federal deficit. This surprising bi-partisan vote shows the growing concern over deficit spending. UN ANTI-BLASPHEMY - A so-called anti-blasphemy resolution is before the United Nations. Pakistan and other Islamic nations have introduced and passed a non-binding resolution in the UN Human Rights Council since 1999 - it is to curtail speech that "offends religion," particularly Islam. Pressure is building to have a binding UN resolution passed - it would effectively forbid Christians and other people of conscience from speaking against militant Islam worldwide. Democratic Senator Kent Conrad from North Dakota actually declared: "Anybody who thinks that [the health care bill] is going to be transparent to the American people is really not telling it like it is." Republican Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky has introduced a resolution that would require a modest 72-hour waiting period before the Senate can vote. DEVALUATION OF DOLLAR - Recently the value of Gold has risen to an all-time high. The price of gold in Euros has risen 8% in recent months, but 13% in U.S. dollars. This is because the dollar is being diluted by the Federal Reserve flooding the economy with dollars via massive borrowing and then handing the money out through the stimulus package. Our past prosperity cannot lull us into thinking that everything will be just fine if we stay on this course. Pray with me for America, "Lord we ask for you that you would intervene for America. "SAFE SCHOOLS" CZAR - Recently, "Safe Schools" czar Kevin Jennings' "aw, shucks" response to covering up child sexual abuse and his public encouragement of man-boy gay sex did not bring alarm from Education Secretary Arne Duncan. Instead Secretary Duncan praised Jennings as "uniquely qualified" to serve. Jennings wrote a forward to the radical social engineering book, "Queering Elementary Education." NO TAX FUNDED ABORTION - A new Zogby poll shows that 71 percent of Americans do not want tax-funded abortions as part of health care reform! Popular support for abortion has also dropped seven points during this year since the election of pro-abortion president Barack Obama. The drop from 54 to 47 percent in one year is the largest shift since polling on this topic started in 1995. Let's pray for America. Father God, we thank you for revealing that the will of the clear majority of Americans is against using tax dollars to pay for the killing of the unborn by abortion as a part of health care. These so-called "hate crimes" bills are actually intended to restrict "free thought" and free speech by Bible-believing citizens and could stop pastors and leaders from speaking against immoral behavior. SAME SEX DC - A bill to permit same-sex marriages to be performed in Washington, DC was introduced on October 6th! Mayor Adrian Fenty said he will sign it, and there does not seem to be strong opposition to it in Congress. A petition has been filed asking for the matter to be made a ballot referendum. Join me in praying for America. Lord God, we thank you for the city council members who refused to sponsor this legislation - Marion Barry (Ward 8), Harry Thomas Jr. (Ward 5) and Yvette Alexander (Ward 7). Bless and protect them. NATURAL DISASTERS – Millions around the world are suffering greatly in the wake of recent Pacific Rim earthquakes and Tsunamis affecting Peru, American Samoa, Samoa, Tonga, Sumatra and other areas of Indonesia. Continuing drought is gripping parts of Africa, India and other nations. Flooding has also occurred, even here in the U.S., such as in Atlanta. Let’s pray together: Father God, we lift all injured and all who have suffered the loss of loved ones and destruction of their houses to You. We pray that you comfort them and lead them to medical care, shelter, clean water and food. We pray for all Christian and other relief agencies and workers – provide the emergency supplies, resources, staffing and volunteers that they need. We pray that you bring a loving gospel witness of Christ and redemption to all who are suffering. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

GLBT MARCH ON DC – Tens of thousands of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered individuals are coming to “March on DC” on Sunday, October 11^th. Their stated purpose is to (quote) “demand equal protection in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states” (unquote) and to lobby for repeal of the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, DOMA. Let’s pray for America: Father, we affirm Your Genesis word – that You created us male and female and that You instituted marriage as the union of one man and one woman. We thank You for, and we ask you to uphold the DOMA law passed in 1996. We pray that you grant courage to all public officials who believe in and will defend traditional marriage. IN GOD WE TRUST – After more than one year of fighting to restore references to our nation’s Judeo-Christian history stripped from the newly-constructed $621 million dollar U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, the engraving of our national motto, “In God We Trust,” was unveiled in the Center on the last day of September. Representative J. Randy Forbes of Virginia and the Congressional Prayer Caucus had taken a lead in this battle. Let’s offer thanksgiving:

Father, we thank You for answering prayer, for changing the hearts of those in authority in the Office of the Architect of the U.S. Capitol, and for granting favor to congressman Forbes and all who spearheaded this fight to see our Judeo-Christian history preserved in our new Capitol Visitor Center. MILITARY – Recently, someone invented a “memory stick” audio Bible about the size of a pack of chewing gum. These “Bible Sticks” are being passed out to our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world. This is a wonderful new tool for evangelism and for building up the faith of our men and women in uniform. Many are coming to Christ and being baptized on a regular basis. Let’s pray for America. Father, we thank You for these new “Bible Sticks” – please increase the flow of these to all in the Military. We lift up all who are serving, and their families. We pray for their salvation or a deepening of faith. We ask You to protect them while in harm’s way, and to preserve and prosper their families. DEMS FORCING HEALTH CARE VOTE - The Democrat-controlled Senate Finance Committee voted down a Republican amendment that would have required the Max Baucus Health plan to be available online for 72 hours before the panel votes. Democrat members said they would offer "conceptual language" instead. Democrat Senator John Kerry said, "Let's be honest, most people don't read the legislative language." Republicans cited that "transparency" is an Obama administration goal. Let's pray for America:

Father, we thank You for the transparency amendment put forth by Senator Grassley and others. Encourage them. We ask that You intervene and give our Senators and Representatives the opportunity to read the final language of any Health Care Reform measure that Congress will vote on. He has also changed policies to favor and help liberal talk radio succeed. As hard as it is to believe, Mark Lloyd has even described Marxist Hugo Chavez's rise to power in Venezuela as an" incredible revolution." Let's pray for America. Father, we thank You for the courage of the talk-show hosts and bloggers who researched recorded remarks by "green jobs czar" Van Jones which unseated him from his unelected place of influence over our nation. Protect and grace all who are investigating Mark Lloyd and the more than 30 mysterious "czars" in the Obama administration. PRAYER IN THE SQUARE - Here's something the mainstream media ignored: New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a Jew, issued a proclamation declaring Sunday, September 20^th Prayer in the Square Day. Times Square Church called out to 200 churches and helped mobilize. The organizers anticipated a few thousand people. God greatly exceeded their expectations as an estimated 60,000 gathered and prayed for an hour in Time Square - for mercy, forgiveness and God's blessing on our nation. Let's pray for America:

Father, we thank You for this wonderful prayer gathering in New York City. We thank you for the increasing unity and prayer in the body of Christ. GOVERNMENT MONEY TO GAYS - $40,000 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will be used in Alexandria, Virginia to (quote) "train staff who work with sexual / domestic violence victims who identify themselves as members of the gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender community." (close quote) An Atlanta-based "Advocates for Youth" group has received more than $16 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Human Services to (quote) "help young people decide if they are gay, how to come out to their parents," (close quote) and to become community activists. UN NONPROLIFERATION RESOLUTION - Barack Obama became the first U.S. President to chair the 15-member United Nations Security Council. He called for a "world free of nuclear weapons" and gained unanimous passage of a nuclear nonproliferation resolution - the first step toward a Treaty. The resolution affirms the right of all states to pursue peaceful nuclear energy - including Iran. The U.S. will convene a Nuclear Summit next year. Israel has not signed previous Nonproliferation Treaties and will be brought under intense pressure. Let's pray for America. Lord Jesus, we thank You that You are our Rock, our Shield, and our Fortress - our ultimate protection. We pray that the security and defense of our nation and the American people will not be compromised. LIAR STATEMENT - Much was said been said about Rep. Joe Wilson's shouting "liar" during a combined session of congress, but it is interesting to note that after his outburst the Senate Finance Committee did revisit and changed the language of the healthcare bill to prevent illegal immigrants from getting federal benefits. You certainly could question Rep. Wilson's for the appropriateness his comments, but apparently they change the language in the bill to match the President's comment. Would you pray with me for America. Lord, we ask you today that the leaders of this country would be known for speaking the truth. HEALTH CARE REFORM - The Senate Finance Committee has released a new Health Care Reform bill. Senator Baucus and Senator Grassley and their committee are working on changes and compromises this week. While no "public option" is included, insurance co-ops under the oversight of the federal government are. Many feel that this co-op option lays the same groundwork for federal control of all health insurance plans in five year. Analysts also feel that the funding of abortion is still included. Let's pray for America. Lord, we boldly ask that you thwart all plans that would bring health care in America under the control of the federal government. Please thwart all schemes that would fund abortion, limit treatment to the elderly, or ration care to those in need. We pray for wisdom and for Your divine intervention in these matters. NATIONAL DEBT - The White House office of Management and Budget has issued a chilling set of budget projections. The U.S. government will accumulate more debt than it did under every previous president combined. The projected ten year deficit could be greater than the sum of all previous deficits since Americas founding. Our national debt will soon equal three quarters of the U.S. economy. By just 2019 the government will be spending nearly 800 billion dollars yearly just to pay the interest on the debt which represents $33,000.00 per household. Let's pray for America. STUDENT FREE SPEECH - Erica Corder was so excited she had just finished her senior year with a 4.0 average. She was one of 15 valedictorians. Each valedictorian was invited to give a 30-second commencement speech. In Erica's speech she expressed her faith in Jesus Christ, encouraging the audience to learn more about Him. Afterwards, she was told that she would not receive her diploma because of her speech unless she gave a written apology. She felt she had no choice so she apologized.
